As a WordPress website developer in Faridabad, we build plenty of WordPress sites. We also talk clients out of it fairly often. Here is how we decide.
When WordPress is a good choice
- You want to edit pages, prices and photos yourself
- You will publish a blog, news or updates regularly
- You need a store with Indian payment gateways through WooCommerce
- You want the freedom to move to any hosting company or developer later
When it isn't
- A small site that rarely changes. A five-page site you update twice a year can be faster and cheaper as plain HTML, with no plugins to update.
- A store where you want everything managed. Shopify handles hosting, security and updates for a monthly fee, which suits some owners better.
- Nobody will look after it. WordPress needs updates. A site left alone for two years with old plugins is a security risk.
What WordPress really costs to run
Hosting
Cheap shared hosting is the most common reason WordPress sites feel slow. Decent hosting costs more but saves you lost visitors.
Updates and backups
Core, theme and plugins need updating regularly, with a backup before each update. Either you do it, or someone does it for you as part of a maintenance plan.
Plugins
Each plugin adds weight and something else to update. We keep them to the minimum the site actually needs.
What we do on WordPress builds
- A lightweight theme, not a heavy page builder that slows every page
- Only the plugins you need, each one listed with what it does
- Caching and image compression set up from day one
- A short video showing you how to edit your own pages
Not sure which platform suits you? Our website development page compares WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify and hand-coded sites side by side.
